A Pain That Could Have Been Prevented
In a quiet community outside Kaduna, 8-year-old Musa fell sick with a fever that wouldn’t go away. His mother, Hadiza, tried herbal remedies, but the nearest clinic was 20 kilometers away — and when she finally made the journey, the clinic had no doctor, no medicine, and no power.
For many families like Hadiza’s, this is a common story — one of distance, delay, and loss. In Nigeria alone, thousands die each year from preventable illnesses simply because they can’t reach a functioning health center.
At Nugs & Ames Foundation, we believe healthcare is not a privilege; it’s a right. And so, our mission began: to bring essential care closer to those who need it most.
Reaching the Unreachable
Our Healthcare for the Vulnerable program focuses on mobile medical outreach, free community clinics, and emergency response units in rural and underserved areas.
Each outreach is a full-scale movement of care:
Doctors and nurses volunteering their weekends.
Pharmacists dispensing free medication.
Volunteers providing registration, translation, and comfort.
We bring healthcare where there is none — under trees, in school halls, or makeshift tents.
What matters isn’t the setting, but the healing.
A Mother’s Relief, A Child’s Recovery
When our team visited Ungwan Maigero community, Hadiza arrived carrying Musa, weak and pale.
Within minutes, he was tested, treated for malaria, and given medication — all at no cost.
She held our nurse’s hand and whispered,
“I thought I was going to lose him. I didn’t know help could come this close.”
For us, those words are more than gratitude; they’re a reminder of why we exist.
Beyond Treatment — Building a Healthier Future
Healthcare is more than treating the sick; it’s about preventing illness and building awareness.
That’s why every outreach includes health education sessions on hygiene, nutrition, maternal care, and disease prevention.
We also supply rural clinics with basic medical equipment, from blood pressure monitors to solar-powered fridges for vaccines — small tools that save countless lives.
Through partnerships with local hospitals and donors, our reach grows wider every year.
Healing Together
No one can heal alone — it takes a community.
From donors who fund our outreach vans to volunteers who spend sleepless nights preparing supplies, every person plays a part in restoring hope.
When we show up with medicine, what we’re really delivering is dignity.
The Promise We Carry Forward
The story of Musa and Hadiza is just one of thousands, but it represents everything we stand for.
Every healed child, every comforted mother, every life saved brings us closer to a Nigeria where no one is left behind because of where they were born.
We dream of a nation where healthcare is not a journey — it’s a guarantee.
